Tip #2 FAQ Part 1

How do I lose weight/fat at X area.

This is a question I get often as a personal trainer at any gym and one I continue to hear today. Losing excess adipose tissue or fat cannot be done by training a certain area in hopes that it removes the unwanted tissue there. I first want to attempt to divert the attention of fat tissue from negative to functional. Held adipose tissue is evolutions way of storing energy for us to use later. It can also be a handy tool for insulation!

Where your body decides to store this extra tissue is dependent primarily on your genetics. Training a certain area can help grow muscle underneath the adipose tissue and help “shape” the area but the loss of fat tissue comes from your bodies metabolism using fat as energy as an energy source.

This means you would have to examine what your body is using for energy and what could be done to adjust the use of dietary energy to bodily reserves such as the adipose tissue. For that we get into the realm of nutrition. But I have said enough for one post. Feel free to check the links below for references!
